Hidden treasure of the Nasrids

In 1932, an inquisitive archaeologist found a mysterious old book among the ruins of an ancient palace outside Granada. After years of dedicated work, the scholar managed to decipher segments of the cryptic text. The clues hinted at the secrets the book contained: a treasure had been hidden shortly before the Muslim ruler was defeated and exiled from Granada and the book holds the keys to finding it. But the archaeologist was never able to completely decipher all the steps needed. He never managed to find the treasure, and not wanting it to fall into wrong hands, he sealed the box so only deserving ones will be able to open it. The box was recently found in the attic of the museum where he worked, but hasn’t been opened yet.

On this tour you'll explore many of the accessible parts of the Alhambra and get an idea of what the glorious history of Granada and the Alhambra is all about.

We'll talk about the history, architecture, arts and more. But don't think it's going to be a boring lecture. On this tour we'll walk along a large stretch of the medieval walls, enter through the imposing, ceremonial Gate of Justice, visit the palace of emperor Charles V (the first renaissance palace in Spain). After that we will walk along the "high street" where artisans used to have their workshops, and where even nowadays you can indulge yourself with a souvenir or two. We'll see some of many archaeological remains in the medina or the working-class neighborhood, and depending on the time of the visit, there's a chance we'll enter the Arab baths. While you won't be able to see the main palaces from the inside, you will still get to see why Alhambra is the most visited  monument in Spain: we'll enter the museum that houses some of the most valuable artefacts from the complex, as well as the interior of the remains of an old Arab palace, later turned into a monastery, where you will see first-hand the spectacular muqarnas dome.
